Privacy
Short version: xavidiaz.com doesn’t use cookies or follow you around the web, and it doesn’t ask you for personal information. To understand the audience and which content is relevant, visits are counted anonymously, on this site’s own server.
This policy covers xavidiaz.com, including the developer page and the CV. The music site xavidiaz.music has its own privacy policy.
Who is responsible
This website is run by Javier Díaz, Stockholm, Sweden, who is the data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For any privacy question or request, email me@xavidiaz.com.
What is collected
Like any web server, the server hosting this site receives technical information with every request — your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent. It is used only to deliver the site, keep it secure and troubleshoot problems, is not combined with other data, and is not shared with anyone. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): running a website securely.
No cookies are set, and there are no advertising or social media trackers. Fonts and images are served from this site’s own server; the photo on the start page’s music card comes from xavidiaz.music, which runs on the same server.
Visitor statistics
To understand who the audience is and which content they find relevant — how many people visit, how they found the site (for example through a link shared on social media) and what they look at — xavidiaz.com counts visits with Umami, an open-source statistics tool that runs on this site’s own server — no outside analytics company is involved. For each page view it records the page, the site or campaign link you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and your approximate location (country, region and city). It also notes which parts of a page come into view and which links are clicked (for example to a live demo). The location is looked up from your IP address on the server; the IP address itself is not stored. To tell visitors apart without cookies, Umami derives an anonymous identifier from your IP address and browser combined with a secret value that changes every month, so you can’t be recognised from one month to the next or across websites. Nothing is stored in your browser, the statistics are not shared with anyone, and they are never combined with other data. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): understanding how the site is used. If your browser blocks the statistics script, the site works exactly the same.
What your browser remembers
If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so the site looks the same next time. It stays on your device, is never sent to the server or anyone else, and contains nothing that identifies you. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Links to other sites
Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, xavidiaz.music and live project demos take you to those sites, whose own privacy policies apply from then on.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or erase personal data about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Email me@xavidiaz.com to exercise any of them. You can also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page. Last updated: 8 October 2026.
